Tuning the glass transition of siloxane‐based poly(ionic liquid)s towards high ion conductivity

چکیده

Abstract Herein, we report a simple and versatile synthetic approach towards siloxane‐based poly(ionic liquid)s (PILs) with unusually low glass transition temperatures ( T g ) down to −73°C, thus “liquid‐like” behavior at room temperature. We designed polydimethylsiloxane‐derived copolymer carrying dialkylimidazolium moieties, by careful selection of the side‐chain length type anions were able manipulate its over wide range reach high ionic conductivities (σ DC up 4.8 × 10 −5 S/cm 300 K. The ionized species make only minor fraction (<25 mol%) overall repeating units are supposedly randomly distributed: Yet our results indicate dramatic effects on thermal properties due repulsive interactions between non‐ionic segments.

Free Energy Landscape Of Simple Liquids Near The Glass Transition

Properties of the free energy landscape in phase space of a dense hard sphere system characterized by a discretized free energy functional of the Ramakrishnan-Yussouff form are investigated numerically. A considerable number of glassy local minima of the free energy are located and the distribution of an appropriately defined “overlap” between minima is calculated. The process of transition fro...

Dynamic thermal expansivity of liquids near the glass transition.

Based on previous works on polymers by Bauer et al. [Phys. Rev. E 61, 1755 (2000)], this paper describes a capacitative method for measuring the dynamical expansion coefficient of a viscous liquid. Data are presented for the glass-forming liquid tetramethyl tetraphenyl trisiloxane (DC704) in the ultraviscous regime. Compared to the method of Bauer et al., the dynamical range has been extended b...

Thermal conductivity of Glycerol's liquid, glass, and crystal states, glass-liquid-glass transition, and crystallization at high pressures.

To investigate the effects of local density fluctuations on phonon propagation in a hydrogen bonded structure, we studied the thermal conductivity κ of the crystal, liquid, and glassy states of pure glycerol as a function of the temperature, T, and the pressure, p. We find that the following: (i) κcrystal is 3.6-times the κliquid value at 140 K at 0.1 MPa and 2.2-times at 290 K, and it varies w...

Anelastic to plastic transition in metallic glass-forming liquids.

The configurational properties associated with the transition from anelasticity to plasticity in a transiently deforming metallic glass-forming liquid are studied. The data reveal that the underlying transition kinetics for flow can be separated into reversible and irreversible configurational hopping across the liquid energy landscape, identified with beta and alpha relaxation processes, respe...

Spatially Heterogeneous Dynamics in Liquids Near Their Glass Transition

Liquids near their glass transition are dynamically heterogeneous, and experiments and simulations have uncovered much about the rich and complex nature of this heterogeneity. This paper highlights key results from our computer simulation studies of spatially heterogeneous dynamics (SHD) in supercooled liquids near their glass transtion. We speculate on the relationship between SHD and other ph...
